NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS! That said, creative maneuvering is how I view my life as a mom. I believe you (universally-speaking) shouldn’t short-change your kids. You’ll regret that more than you will a missed calling in medicine. I’ve seen it over and over in my own extended family. However, YOU are the one who determines success both as a mother and as a professional woman. Yes, you may have to put your medical dream on hold for a little while, but not indefinitely! Don’t let people outline your future. Only you can do that.

Five little ones is enough to keep you totally engaged for now, but don’t become bogged down by this temporary state. They will to be less dependent on you as older children, and you will be more able to justify pursuing your dream at that time. Nothing is permanent, and nothing can be regained once time has been lost, on both counts.
