In Maryland, the legislature wants to put through a bill which will subsidize malpractice by a large amt–I think 50%. Where do they plan to get the funds? from a tax on doctors! So basically they will collect money from doctors to give to doctors to pay for malpractice. Of course, there are costs involved in collecting and allocating money, so for each dollar a doctor pays in tax, he’ll get back about 75 cents to pay for his insurance. Unbelievable! Fortunately, the governor has promised to veto this nonsense.
