the folks i’ve talked to who seemed accepting or even unaware about waits (for hip replacements, organ transplants) were from the UK.

my sister, from the US, married a canadian and lives in BC. they were in a very serious car accident and were helicoptered to Vancouver. The ICU care they got was the best in the world, the step down unit was adequate, the general floors were ridiculously understaffed (worse then the US) and there was almost no rehab and followup care for over 6 months. the acute care seemed so good but it went downhill from there. OH, and they paid for hotel rooms for family members when pts were in the ICU…saying it shortened ICU stays and saved money!!!!! Isn’t that sensible and amazing.
