I am freaking out a bit here. I just went to my universities webpage the pre-med society put together, and it was saying that last year there were 900 applicants for 150 spots!!!

Is that normal? I really had NO CLUE. I feel I don’t have a shot…..If that is true how does *anyone* get in???

That’s normal. The year I applied, my school had well over 1000 applicants (I want to say they told us 1400) for 88 slots.

Keep in mind that most people apply to a bunch of schools. Also, not everyone who applies really meets all of the entrance requirements. You probably should ask how many of those 900 actually got interviews, too.

This process isn’t all about #s, but as long as you’re around or above the school’s “averages” (GPA, MCAT) you have a decent shot. Don’t let the sheer # of applicants discourage you.
