ParticipantI was just wondering if anyone else out there was taking Clomid. It is my first month on it and I am just wondering about side effects. Has it been successful for you? Any info would be great. :crossfingers:

ParticipantI am not currently on Clomid. I took it three years ago when I got pregnant with my daughter-cycle #2 did the trick! I don’t remember many side effects except very distinct ovulatory pain on both sides, much more than the usual. I was also very moody but I think that TTC induced mood swings in and of itself. The 50 mg dose worked, and I now have the 2 1/2 year old to prove it. I have been trying again, unsuccessfully, for the past 4 months and lost a pregnancy in June, so I envision more Clomid in the near future. I wish you the best of luck! 😉

ParticipantThanks for your input. I am in fact having that ovulatory pain today. It is much worse than normal, but it will be worth it I hope. Thanks for your reply and Good Luck and I hope you get pregnant soon. 😉

Participantdrvicky-
Thanks for the good wishes. I wanted to add a couple of things. First, don’t be discouraged if the first cycle or two don’t “make it happen.” You may need a higher dose. Also, make sure that you’re getting the generic clomiphene citrate. Much, much cheaper than the brand and just as effective. I conceived my daughter on 50 mg of clomiphene, cycle #2.

ParticipantI was on Clomid for about 6 months. I tolerated the 50 mg fairly well, was so-so on the 100 mg but completely freaked out on the 150 mg.
I finally had to have 200 mg of Clomid with HMG injections, and lost my head for good measure. I had 10 follicles that cycle and concieved my liitle DD that month. (Thank God, I couldn’t imagine doing it another cycle!). My DD is now 4 months old. I think it all depends on the doseage. I was extra-fierce PMS the entire cycles on doses 100 mg and above, but if you get pregnant, you forget that evil PMS on the double.

ParticipantHi! I just started provera and will do clomid next cycle… is this your first time on it? It will be mine as well.
It definitely feels weird to be directly taking medicine to aid in pregnancy–every day I wake up and think, are you ready for this? So intimidating!
Best of luck to you!

ParticipantGood luck! I had a lot of ovulatory pain and wicked mood swings. i cried alot on clomid, but it was not unbearable. I want a baby so bad I would pretty much put up with anything at this point. How long have you been trying? We have been trying for a year. Good luck and as they say on the infertility websites: Babydust to you: 😉

Participantwe’ve been trying for less than a year, but it is pretty futile since i have had no period in over a year… so no sense in trying if im not ovulating!
so… what cycle day did you start the clomid on? I see day 3 and day 5 as possibilities… any plusses or minuses to either one?

ParticipantI started clomid on day 4 of my cycle and took it through day 8. i ovulated on Day 14 and as my husband would say we made the donuts:) Hopefully it worked. I am seeing the OB on tuesday and he will do a pregnancy test before he gives me another month of clomid. Keep your head up. There are lots of us out there struggling with the same problem. Sometimes I feel like everyone around me can get pregnant and it is so frustrating. i have to believe that it will happen to us. ( I am trying to stay positive) Crying didn’t seem to help :crossfingers:

ParticipantI’ll be starting my third cycle of Clomid on Friday (I start on cycle day 4). I just posted an intro/looking for support thread in this forum that explains my whole story 🙂 It’s great to hear from women who have been successful with Clomid!!
