What kinds of backround checks will I undergo on my way to becoming a doctor? Will minor misdemeanor drug charges affect my chances at a career? :confused:

I’m not sure. How old were you? How long ago were you charged?

I would suggest you call a few med schools that you’re interested in attending, and ask to speak (anonymously) with a person in admissions. Tell them your situation, and ask what they think your chances would be, if all other factors were in place (grades, MCAT, etc.) of being accepted.

If Im not mistaking, misdemeanors can be or are taken off the background checks after like 5-10 years. Anyone can correct me if Im wrong.
