I am 23 yrs old and currently in my senior year as an undergrad and plan to attend post bacc in order to level my grades and get myself ready for medical school. My boyfriend of 2 years is also a senior and planning on doing the same. I plan to one day be a OB/GYN and he an othropedic surgeon. Now I know both fields will be demanding but I want to be a mom as well. I was wondering if any one thinks it is possible to do it when we are done with post bacc (we have a year after before starting medical school) or wait until after and risk pregnacy at 35 with my first child when i want three total……..Plse help and give feedback advise or stories. we plan to get married between our 2nd and 3rd yrs of medical school..

    J Miller,

Yes, it can be done!!! If you browse around here (I’m sure you have already), you’ll see that there is a great amount of hope and that it is completely doable. It’ll be hard, but in the end worth it. Whether you want to have your child sooner or later is totally at your discretion…having one at 35 isn’t so bad. Of course, there will be greater risks, but I don’t see why it can’t be done at that age.

Bottom line, it’s doable. If your heart tells you to have one sooner, then go for it…it’s not going to be easy, balancing school with a child. However, if you’re truly concerned about the risks posed at the age of 35 then you can join the mama club :p !

Let us know what you decide!
