    Hi!

Any suggestions for good books to read? I have a couple of weeks before my premed fall classes start. I remember reading somewhere that med schools suggest general reading during orientation. Does anyone happen to have names of these books.

    Thanks!

I’m currently reading some short stories by Edith Wharton. (Didn’t want to get too involved with another novel before class starts!) Just got done reading “The Orchid Thief” by Susan Orlean about a unique sub-culture of orchid collectors (fanatical people apparently) in Florida. It’s also the basis for the movie, “Adaptation.” I liked this book.

I also recently read “Complications,” by Atal Gawande, a medical memoir from a surgeon. Although you may want to get away from medical books for awhile, this was a great read–and it was written for a general audience.

    Love,
    Stacy
