Volunteering Abroad

Does anyone know of any good volunteering programs abroad? I’m mainly interested in Africa, but I’m open to any suggestions.

I’ve found a few programs on the internet, but it seems that most of them are conservation or teaching English (which would be ok, I have half a master’s in ESL but don’t want to do it as a career!)…not too many things are health related.

I’m not a med student at this point, so I don’t know how that will impact the program possibilities…
