The Department of Family and Community Medicine at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, Paul L. Foster School of Medicine is recruiting for board certified MD or DO applicants for full time Faculty positions at the Assistant/Associate Professor level in a department that enjoys strong institutional support. These departmental faculty positions are designed to address the needs of the expanding medical education programs.

The Paul L. Foster School of Medicine has an innovative curriculum for medical students. The third year clerkship in family medicine currently is 6 weeks in length, combined with a 15 week-long longitudinal selective experience of one half-day per week. There is currently an 8-8-8 ACGME-accredited family medicine residency program. Both residents and faculty see patients in a modern Family Medicine Center with a state of the art electronic medical record system. There is also a strong ACGME-accredited Sports Medicine Fellowship Program. The department also enjoys a successful clinical research division with the focus on cancer prevention and population health. The department has an active inpatient service at the University Medical Center of El Paso, and also admits patients to the El Paso Children鈥檚 Hospital. Duties will include direct patient care, primarily at the main clinic site in northeast El Paso, numerous opportunities to supervise and teach family medicine residents in the outpatient and inpatient settings, and teach medical students across all four years of the medical school curriculum. Scholarly activity is also expected of all faculty. The successful candidates will receive faculty appointments at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor, together with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Major/Essential Functions

Provides direct patient care services, in the outpatient setting at the Family Medicine Center, and other clinics as assigned
Provides patient care and supervision of residents on the family medicine inpatient service and participates in the faculty call schedule (Obstetrics call optional)
Supervises residents in the outpatient clinic setting and participates in the overall teaching program for teaching and training of residents
Supervises and teaches clerkship students in the outpatient clinic setting Teaches medical students throughout the medical school curriculum as assigned
Demonstrates sustained commitment to scholarship by producing and disseminating scholarly work in peer-reviewed professional forums
Participates in committees and other administrative duties of the department and the School of Medicine
Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with Paul L. Foster School of Medicine鈥檚 Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility
